Start before light in Breviere at 1,550 metres

I support freedom for all people!!

To honour the spirit of Tibetans on their uprising anniversary, I carried the flag, walking up from the bottom to the top of the Tignes Espace Killy area in the French Alps.

This involved skinning up on skis, over a distance of around 25kms from Breviere at 1,550ms, through an extra up and down of 250ms, crossing a Lake and up to La Grande Motte at 3,456ms - a height gain of 2,150ms.

This took a gruelling 10 hours, overcoming slippery ice, agonising steepness and almost complete exhaustion. But as always knowing it's important to put in effort for what we believe in to make positive changes in our world.

The Tibetans have suffered 60 years of genocide and oppression in their country, largely ignored by the world, though their leader in exile, the Dalai Lama, works ceaselessly for peace for all.

Steep approach to the summit at 3,456 metres

A big thank you to Alan who drove me down before dawn to the start; To Eleanor who joined me on the lower Motte; And Trevor who was there for me on the upper Motte. Also to special friends thinking of me.

When doing something tough - having to believe in oneself, it makes a huge difference having others supporting with kind words, thoughts and actions.

Never underestimate the power of telling someone "I believe in you!" or "You can do it!"

You can do it!
