World Waking Up

I watched with an overflowing heart the "Monks Walk for Peace" - 19 Buddhist monks led by Bhikkhu Pannakara with Aloka the peace dog, who walked 2,300 miles, over four months, across the United States to raise awareness for peace, loving kindness and compassion. They walked silently and mindfully, sometime barefoot, facing cold, illness and accident. Their quiet message, reaching out to all, was to hold in our minds "Today is my peaceful day". How amazing and beautiful to see that their message gathered massive momentum and was heard right across the world: Millions of people taking it on board: Looking within to find peace: Bringing hope...

On 7th feb as the walk was symbolically culminating in the US capitol Washington, here in the French Alps, my friend Marcia and I highlighted and celebrated this movement by reaching out on skis to the four corners of the ski area of Tignes and Val D'Isere. This day-long challenge traditionally represents a reaching out to the four corners of the planet.

To the Pisaillas glacier at 3,140m:

Fornet Village at 1,930m:

The top of the Grand Motte at 3,456 m:

And Brevieres at 1,500m.

When we are mindful we remember that every effort for peace however small makes a difference.

How wonderful to see the monks touching the hearts of so many - signs of a world waking up... waking up to humans working together... looking after everyone...  being more compassionate...  respecting the animals and our Earth , giving back not just taking...

It is time.

Thank you to all the monks who walked for peace. And thank you to all who hear...

Let us stay mindful

stay mindful...
